PRAYERS THAT SHAKE NATIONS

God could easily impose his will on the world, but it's not his character to rule us with an iron fist. He would rather have us:  love and obey him by our own choice.  He also wants us to be in partnership with him through prayer to change situations that are contrary to his will.  This outward, selfless kind of prayer is called  INTERCESSION.  Intercessors seek God's help on behalf of individuals, cities & nations.
The faithful prayers of one Godly person can change the destiny of a whole nation.
In 1 Samuel 7:5-9, the people of Israel were facing an enemy invasion and pleaded with the prophet Samuel to intercede before the lord for them. Samuel said he would only do so if they would stop worshipping idols and repent of their sins. When they did,  Samuel cried unto God on their behalf, and the Lord saved them from their enemies.
Let us identify something outside of our own situation today:  for which we would like to intercede. Let's ask God to show us specific ways to pray.

LET THE SPARKS FLY!

LET THE SPARKS FLY!
With voices getting louder by the moment and faces turning beet red, the two roommates squared off in sharp disagreement.
Though they were close friends, their strong personalities and opinions seemed to draw them regularly into conflict. As they worked harder to listen to each other and respond in a godly way, God began to shape them. After some months together, they were astonished at how many "rough edges " God had polished through their occasional disputes.
Iron is sharpened by rubbing two equally hard pieces together. The friction polishes the metal but also causes the spark to fly! In the same way, the Lord uses our relationships to sharpen us spiritually. The habits and personalities  of our companions may grate on us at times, but these conflicts, even if they don't result in heated sparring, serve a useful purpose.
When our different strength, opinions & perspectives rub against one another, qualities such as pride, obstinacy & selfishness get ground away until we are sharpened tools, effective and ready for use.
Consider your difficult relationships. Can you see how Jehovah is using them to sharpen some rough areas in your life? (Proverbs 27:15-17)

HOW TO ORGANIZE AN EFFECTIVE QUIET TIME WITH GOD

HOW TO ORGANIZE AN EFFECTIVE QUIET TIME WITH GOD
  • Choose a specific place where you won't be interrupted (Luke 22:39).
  • Set aside a certain period of the day, one that suits you, keeping in mind that God deserves our best, not our leftovers (Daniel 6:10).
  • Start with 15 to 20 minutes a day, and extend it as you grow in your relationship with God.
  • Keep a balance between reading the bible and praying, remember that reading the bible grows your relationship with God while prayers are your conversation with him daily
  • Seek all opportunities to implement all that you have learned or prayed about (James 2:17).

BENEFITS OF HAVING A REGULAR QUIET TIME WITH GOD
  1. We get to know God: his nature, character and ways
  2. We grow in the understanding of his perfect love for us
  3. In silence, we we can hear more clearly the voice of God
  4. We are empowered to overcome sin and weaknesses.
  5. We can receive specific guidance (Mark 1:35)
The time we spend with God in quiet communion is the best investment we can make in our spiritual health. Moses grew so close to God in his quiet times that he became known as the one who speaks with God as a "friend", Jesus gained the strength he needed to face the cross. We also will find strength, wisdom, & an abundance of love when we take the time to get alone with God. Remember, his heart's desire is to be with us too!

WHO AM I

Who am i?
Celina was rugged not only in her appearance but also in her whole being. Nothing about her expressed womanhood, least of all the clothes she wore. Layers of self protection kept both men and women far away.
Celina had lost her desire to be a woman and to be intimate years before when her uncle had sexually abused her. She had numbed her body from the experience, but she had also decided to run away from womanhood, Celina viewed herself as an object- and only occasionally, on a good day as a person.
We develop our sexual identity through healthy interaction in a variety of relationships (parents, brothers & sisters, teachers and other authority figures) as we grow up. These people help to nurture and affirm us in our process of sexual development. If the people we trust consistently neglect, shame or violate us, our sexuality may be seriously and significantly damaged, hence our sexual development have been interrupted, confused and often times distorted.
God desires to remove his people’s sense of shame, his heart is broken over people whose sexual identity has been thwarted, if we’ll allow him, he will not only fix us, he’ll also heal the wounds that kept us from accepting our femininity or masculinity. He will restore our self-worth and confidence as we look to him for affirmation and love.
Are you struggling with your sexual identity or any form of identification? Tell your creator who knows you too well about the pain & shame that you face daily. Pray with the whole of psalm 139, remember that God loves you unconditionally and longs for you to experience sexual wholeness.

GOD THE ARTIST

GOD THE ARTIST
At four years old, Cindy loved to draw. One day her teacher gave her design to copy. The eager student asked if she could make her own design. When the teacher said no, something died within her. Now, many years later, when she talks about that moment, she still fights back tears.
When God blessed Noah’s family, he emphasized the fact that humans have great value because they are created in his own very image.
God’s creativity found its ultimate expression when he “sculptured” living creatures in his own likeness. As such, man & woman could also be imaginative and creative.
Every person is made in the image of our creative God. Therefore, everyone has the ability to be creative. There are no exceptions!
When we develop our God-given creative potential, we honor the one who gave it to us.
Were your creative abilities stifled? Perhaps you think that creativity belongs only to a gifted few. Guys please, try to deal with whatever disappointment or resentment you may have encountered in your formative years & consider ways to develop and express the creative potential God has placed within you. It is not too late to begin!
